Silent and odorless compost toilet
Separett Villa is the most advanced, trouble free composting toilet available for on grid or off-grid living. It is waterless and urine diverting and with its simplicity and unlimited capacity it offers a comfortable toilet visit. Thanks to the urine separation, both the smell and the volume of the waste that must be disposed of are reduced. With the strong 12V fan, the toilet can handle installations up to 6 m long and with up to three 90° elbows.
The toilet can be operated with 110-240 V AC or with 12 V DC solar cell / battery power. The fan has very low energy consumption of 0.06 kWh / 24h and is therefore suitable for battery or solar cell operation as well. The battery and battery cables are not included.
High Reliability
Villa has high operational reliability, is easy to install and does not take up more space than a standard toilet seat. The toilet space is constantly ventilated by the toilet fan and urine is separated from other waste, which makes the toilet space odorless. The view screen hides the dry waste and is only pushed away when you sit down to use the toilet.
Villa comes with a 5-year warranty against all manufacturing defects.

The external container
Villa Extend needs to be connected to an external solids container that is placed under the toilet area. Keep in mind that the space underneath the toilet needs to be accessible from the outside to facilitate emptying. In the delivery of the toilet no external container is included. The Separett Extend Container Kit is available separately. When purchasing the accessory package, two external latrine containers of 50 liters, 1 m of drainpipe Ø160 mm, connecting part to the latrine container, a lid with a hole, a solid lid and the necessary screws are included.
With the Separett Villa Extend Container Kit the minimum required clearance under the floor is 80 cm. This means from ceiling to the floor of the space underneath the toilet.
Toilet placement
Separett Villa has no requirements for room temperature and works in both cold and warm spaces. The only requirements are that you must be able to lead the urine away and fit a ventilation pipe.
The toilet is made to be placed on the floor against the wall, and for extra stability it should be attached to the wall.
Drill holes according to installation template
The installation instructions show possible installation options for urine drain and ventilation pipe through the wall, the ceiling or the floor. The installation template shows the places for holes in a simple installation through the wall behind the toilet.
Install ventilation pipe
The toilet is designed for 75 mm schedule 20 or 40 PVC ventilation pipe. Separett Villa can be installed with up to 6 m of ventilation piping and three 90-degree bends. Ventilated air can go through a wall, floor or ceiling, for example, up into an attic and out through a suitable side of the house. If there is already a ventilation pipe present from a previous toilet installation, the toilet may be connected to that duct, provided that it is not smaller than 75 mm and that it meets the piping requirements.
The toilet comes with a coupling for connecting the toilet to 75 mm piping schedule 20 or 40 PVC.
An original Separett 2 m ventilation kit with wall brackets is available here. The pipes feature a thin-wall design, making them lightweight, and their color is matched to other Separett pipes and connectors for a consistent appearance.
Install urine hose
The toilet is delivered with a 2 m urine hose. To connect this to the toilet, use the included straight joint or the 90-degree elbow. It is possible to connect the urine tube so that no pipe is visible where the toilet is installed. This is achieved by angling the 90-degree elbow downwards or using the straight connection leading the pipe out through the wall behind the toilet.
Recommendations for installation of urine hose
Villa provides the option of installing the urine hose without any visible pipes/tubes in the bathroom. Below are a few tips that should be followed to maintain a well-functioning urine outlet over time and all year round.
- If you are going to go through an insulated wall or a wall with an air gap between the inner and outer wall, you must use a pipe for the penetration, or lead the hose through a pipe. Pipes are used to reduce the risk of pests causing damage to the tube.
- If you are going to run the urine a longer distance than the 2 m of the supplied hose, you should switch to a pipe after the 2 m. Since urine contains minerals that can accumulate in pipes/ hoses, we recommend that the subsequent pipe have an internal diameter of at least 38 mm to avoid blockages.
- Make sure that you always have a downward inclination of at around 2 degrees (2 cm per 1 m) throughout the piping, also make sure that there are no air pockets created by bends in the hose.
- If the toilet is to be used in winter, outdoor pipes must have an internal diameter of at least 38 mm.
- If the toilet is to be used in winter, we recommend that you insulate outdoor pipes with pipe insulation. This insulation can be bought in most DIY stores.
- An important rule for longer installations (over 2m) is that the sooner you switch to pipes with a larger diameter, the lower the risk of blockages in the pipes.
- Do not place pipe joints near electrical appliances or wall sockets. This is to prevent liquid from coming into contact with electricity in the event of a leak
Handling of the Solid Waste
Handling of the Solid Waste
Many people dispose of toilet waste the same way they would dispose of diapers, but it’s also possible to compost it into nutrient-rich compost.
Keep in mind that the waste is not composted when you empty the bucket. Human waste should be composted for at least 6 months, preferably 12 months, to ensure pathogens are eliminated. Mixing garden waste, kitchen scraps, and toilet waste helps speed up the process and improve the result. A good rule of thumb is to plan for at least 110 liters per user, using two containers so one can rest while the other is in use.
Always use a sealed bin or a container with a collection tray to prevent leaching. Make sure it has a solid lid and secured ventilation grates to keep out rodents, insects, and rain.

No need for bulking material
Separett toilets remain odorless thanks to an efficient ventilation fan, without the need to add bulking material or stir the contents. In fact, adding bulking material to the solids container can cause it to fill up faster and may even damage the fan, as fine dust particles can be drawn into the ventilation system.
Handling of the Liquid Waste
Handling of the Liquid Waste
Many users connect the urine outlet from Separett Villa Extend to a greywater system, an Ecovault Infiltration Chamber, or a sealed container such as the Separett Ejectortank for reuse or disposal.
The Ecovault Infiltration Chamber is a purpose-built solution for managing urine and light greywater on-site. Unlike simple gravel soakaways, the chamber provides a defined structure that maintains void space over time, while the non-woven geotextile fabric prevents surrounding soil from migrating into the system. This helps maintain infiltration performance and extends the functional lifespan compared to pits that rely solely on loose gravel, where materials can gradually mix and reduce drainage capacity.
Alternatively, urine can be collected in a sealed container like the Separett Ejectortank and reused as a fertilizer. The Ejectortank uses water pressure to automatically dilute urine at a ratio of approximately 1:8 during emptying, ensuring a consistent mixture without manual handling. This diluted solution can be applied to lawns, shrubs, and ornamental plants, returning nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium back into the soil. Regular use can contribute to visibly greener grass and supports a more circular use of nutrients.
If storing urine, use a closed container and empty it regularly to minimize odor. The Ejectortank includes a float indicator to signal when it is time for emptying and can be installed underground with only the lid visible for convenient access.
A simple soakaway can be used where permitted, but performance depends heavily on soil conditions and construction quality. Over time, soil and fine particles may migrate into the gravel, reducing porosity and infiltration capacity. For more consistent, long-term performance, a structured infiltration system with proper separation layers is recommended.
Always follow local regulations when handling greywater or reusing urine.
