BRUSH THE FLUE PIPE AND VACUUM THE MATERIAL
The flue pipe is cleaned after 200 uses. When it is time for this cleaning, the display will show BRUSH THE FLUE PIPE AND VACUUM THE MATERIAL. Confirm the action by pressing the middle button. The flue pipe is easy to clean using the included steel brush. It is important to brush far enough. The brush handle should be almost at the flue opening to ensure that the pipe is brushed sufficiently. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove loosened material from the flue. More information can be found on page 42 of the user manual.
CLEAN THE CONTAINER, ADD 1 L OF WATER, PRESS LARGE INCINERATION
After the ash container has been emptied twice, the display will show "CLEAN THE CONTAINER, ADD 1 L OF WATER, PRESS LARGE INCINERATION". Confirm the action by pressing the middle button. This cleaning is performed because crystals form when urine evaporates.
1. Remove the ash container and empty it. See the user manual, pages 14/40, for instructions on emptying the ash container.
2. Pour 1 liter of water into the ash container.
3. Place the ash container back in position and turn the handle to the right as far as possible. The ash pot must pass the thin curved line on the label. When turning the ash pot handle to the right, push the ash pot backward at the same time so that it settles into position and the curved line remains visible.
4. Run the large incineration program.
ASHES EMPTIED?
By default, the toilet notifies you that the ash container needs to be emptied after 50 incineration cycles. The display will show "HAS THE ASH CONTAINER BEEN EMPTIED?" The answer options are YES and NO. If the ashes have not been emptied, select NO and the toilet can continue to be used. The emptying reminder will repeat with the following incineration cycles until the ashes have been emptied and the emptying has been confirmed by selecting YES. NOTE: If the ash container is allowed to become too full, incineration performance may be significantly reduced and, in the worst case, the toilet may be damaged.
How to empty the ash container:
1. Open and remove the front cover. Use the included screwdriver if the cover is locked on the sides.
2. Turn the ash container so that the handle is centered.
3. Pull the ash container out of the toilet.
4. Empty the ashes, for example into the trash or onto the ground. The ash is completely free of bacteria.
5. Place the ash container in position and turn the handle to the right as far as possible. The ash pot must pass the thin curved line on the label. When turning the ash pot handle to the right, push the ash pot backward at the same time so that it settles into position and the curved line remains visible.
6. Put the front plate back in place and lock it if necessary.
FAN ERROR
The fan speed differs from the expected value. The fan is too slow.
This may be because the fan has been stationary for a long time and dirt has accumulated on it.
Assist the fan by following these steps:
1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
2. Pull the toilet away from the ventilation pipe.
3. Make sure nothing is stuck in the fan. You can see the fan by disconnecting the toilet from the ventilation pipe and looking into the toilet through the exhaust air pipe opening.
4. Try spinning the fan, for example with a pen or a stick. Check for a possible mechanical obstruction if the fan does not rotate freely or makes noise while rotating. If the fan rotates freely and quietly, the fault is likely in the fan connectors.
5. After completing the steps, plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and set both switches back to the I position (on).
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
MAIN POWER ERROR
No power from the mains power connection.
NOTE: Make sure the toilet is not connected to mains power when inspecting the control board or replacing fuses.
1. Make sure the power cord is connected and that both power switches are in the I position (on).
2. Make sure the outlet has power, for example by testing it with a battery charger or phone.
3. Check the fuses and residual-current device in the building's fuse box. Check all three fuses on the control board. More information can be found in the user manual on pages 11/37.
4. Make sure the power switches and power cables are intact.
5. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off). Then set both power switches to the I position (on).
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
EXHAUST AIR TOO HOT – COOLING DOWN
The exhaust air temperature is too high.
1. Let the unit cool down before carrying out any checks; in other words, allow the fan to cool the toilet.
2. Make sure the ash container is in the correct position and securely in place. The ash pot must pass the thin curved line on the label. When turning the ash pot handle to the right, push the ash pot backward at the same time so that it settles into position and the curved line remains visible.
3. Make sure the installation has been carried out according to the instructions and that the toilet receives enough air. Model-specific installation instructions can be found by selecting the product on the Products page. The installation instructions can then be downloaded from the Product information - Files tab.
4. Make sure the incineration chamber hatch opens and closes as it should when the flush handle is pressed.
5. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
6. Set both power switches to the I position (on).
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
HEATING ERROR, RESTART
This error code appears on the display if the incineration chamber temperature has not reached a sufficiently high temperature within a certain period of time.
1. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
2. Make sure the overheat protection pin on the back of the unit is fully pressed in. Note that the overheat protection is located under the black cap. The pin only moves a few millimeters.
3. Make sure the ash container is in the correct position and securely in place. The ash container handle must be turned to the right as far as possible. The ash pot must pass the thin curved line on the label. When turning the ash pot handle to the right, push the ash pot backward at the same time so that it settles into position and the curved line remains visible.
4. Make sure the toilet lid is always closed during the incineration program. The toilet lid has a magnetic sensor, which means that the toilet's heating element turns off when the lid is open.
5. Set both power switches to the I position (on).
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
TIME EXCEEDED
Note: In software versions 0.20-0.23, this error code may appear on the display even though the toilet is operating normally. This is not an actual fault, but an error in the toilet software language file, which will be corrected in future software updates. If incineration has continued for more than 3 hours since the most recent program selection, the error code will appear. If several people have used the unit one after another, the total time may have exceeded the allowed value.
1. Check that all buttons on the display are working. Then return to the home screen.
2. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
3. Set both power switches to the I position (on). Wait for the toilet to cool down.
4. Make sure the toilet lid is always closed during the incineration program. The toilet lid has a magnetic sensor, which means that the toilet's heating element turns off when the lid is open.
5. Check the incineration status by looking into the ash pot.
6. Place the ash container in position and turn the handle to the right as far as possible. The ash pot must pass the thin curved line on the label. When turning the ash pot handle to the right, push the ash pot backward at the same time so that it settles into position and the curved line remains visible.
7. Restart incineration if necessary.
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
SERVICE REQUIRED
The toilet has been used enough that it is time for service. We recommend seasonal service for our incinerating toilets every two years in leisure use and every year in permanent use. Seasonal service includes cleaning the catalyst and replacing the heating element, among other things. To have seasonal service performed on the toilet, fill out the service form on our website. Separett will contact you within 2 business days of receiving the service request.
CHECK THE OVERHEAT PROTECTION OR HEATING ELEMENT
The error code indicates that the unit is consuming less power than normal.
1. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
2. Unscrew the black cap on the back of the toilet, on the right-hand side when viewed from the front, and press the small white or black pin fully back in. NOTE: The switch only moves a few millimeters.
3. Set both power switches to the I position (on).
4. If the overheat protection switch was already fully pressed in and the fault does not clear after restarting, the heating element most likely needs to be replaced.
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
POWER/BATTERY ERROR
No power is going to the battery.
NOTE: Be careful when opening the toilet. Make sure the toilet is not connected to mains power.
1. Check the battery fuse (2 A glass fuse). It is located under the power switch on the back of the toilet.
2. Make sure the cables connected to the battery are firmly in place and that the terminals are not oxidized.
3. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
4. Set both power switches to the I position (on).
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.

SEr1
Service reminder
This is a reminder/recommendation that the toilet needs service.
We recommend servicing incinerating toilets every year in permanent use and every two years in leisure use.
You can book seasonal service for an incinerating toilet by filling out the service booking form.
If the toilet has had little use and you do not think it requires service, additional instructions related to the SEr1 code are provided below.
Notes
SEr1 = reminder/recommendation that the toilet needs service. The Separett Basic service reminder is programmed to appear on the display after the unit has been connected to power for 310 days. In leisure use, the service reminder may therefore not match our recommendation of service every two years.
NOTE: The toilet can continue to be used normally even if the light on top of the toilet is not on and the SEr1 code is shown on the display. In that case, the incineration button must be pressed twice. This only means that other future notifications may go unnoticed while the light remains off. The correct codes will still appear on the display.
The SEr1 code is reset during seasonal service. If you feel that service is NOT currently needed for the toilet, there are two ways to reset it. The options are below:
1. Separett Basic (manufactured after January 1, 2020)
Separett Basic toilets manufactured after January 1, 2020 have an updated reset method for the SEr1 code. The code is acknowledged like other displayed codes: either by tapping the downward arrow on the control unit or by pressing and holding the start button on top of the unit for 15 seconds.
2. Separett Basic (manufactured before January 1, 2020)
You can find instructions for resetting the SEr1 service reminder here. An instructional video has also been created for the reset instructions, which you can watch here.
TIP: Read the instructions carefully and watch the video before starting the reset so the process goes as smoothly as possible.
If you are unsure of the manufacturing date, try the first option first and then the second.
ASH1
The ash container must be emptied.
The toilet always notifies you to empty the ash container after 50 uses, at which point code ASH1 appears on the display.
Acknowledge the code by pressing and holding the incineration button for approximately 15 seconds, until the blue light around the incineration button comes on. The code can also be acknowledged by pressing the downward arrow on the toilet display.
IMPORTANT: If the ash container is not emptied on time, the toilet's performance may deteriorate and some parts may be damaged.
IMPORTANT: Always make sure the toilet is cool before emptying the ash container.
Empty the ash container by following the steps below:
ASH2
The ash container must be emptied and cleaned.
After 100 uses, the toilet displays codes ASH1 and ASH2, meaning that the ash container must be emptied and cleaned.
Acknowledge the code by pressing and holding the incineration button for approximately 15 seconds, until the blue light around the incineration button comes on. The code can also be acknowledged by pressing the downward arrow on the toilet display.
IMPORTANT: Always make sure the toilet is cool before emptying the ash container.
Cleaning is performed as follows:
1. (ASH1) Remove the ash container and empty it.
2. (ASH2) Pour 1 liter of water into the ash container.
3. Place the ash container back in position and turn the handle to the right as far as possible. The ash pot must pass the thin curved line on the label. When turning the ash pot handle to the right, push the ash pot backward at the same time so that it settles into position and the curved line remains visible.
4. Run the large incineration program.
ASH3
The ash container must be emptied and cleaned together with the flue.
After 200 uses, the toilet displays codes ASH1, ASH2, and ASH3.
Acknowledge the codes by pressing and holding the incineration button for approximately 15 seconds, until the blue light around the incineration button comes on. The code can also be acknowledged by pressing the downward arrow on the toilet display.
The flue pipe is easy to clean using the included steel brush. It is important to brush far enough. The brush handle should be almost at the flue opening to ensure that the pipe is brushed sufficiently. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove loosened material from the flue.
IMPORTANT: Always make sure the toilet is cool before cleaning it.

4. Make sure the installation has been carried out according to the instructions and that the toilet receives enough air. Model-specific installation instructions can be found by selecting the product on the Products page. The installation instructions can then be downloaded from the Product information - Files tab.
Submit a fault report if the fault does not clear.
NO ERROR CODE
If the unit is dark and does not show an error code or text on the display, select "NO ERROR CODE" as the code on the fault report form.
If the unit display is dark, perform or verify the following steps:
NOTE: Make sure the toilet is not connected to mains power when inspecting the control board or replacing fuses.
- Make sure the power cord is connected and that, on the Cindi Family model, both power switches are in the I position (on).
- Make sure the outlet has power, for example by testing it with a battery charger or phone.
- Check the toilet's own fuses and the residual-current device in the room's fuse box.
- Instructions for replacing/checking the Separett Family fuses can be found in the user manual on pages 11/37.
- Instructions for replacing/checking the Separett Basic fuses can be found in the user manual on pages 14/38.
- Make sure the power switches and power cables are intact.
- On the Separett Family model, set both power switches to the 0 position (off). Then set both power switches to the I position (on).
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
If the Separett Family display shows memory reset or the display texts are otherwise mixed up, the unit's software version should be updated.
Here is the link to the file containing the update: https://separett.com/files/documents/cindi.zip
Click here to see the instructions for formatting the USB flash drive.
The update is performed as follows:
• Download the software by clicking the link above.
• Open the file location where you downloaded the file.
• Save the file named "cindi.hex" to the USB flash drive.
• Turn off the toilet by setting both power switches to the 0 position.
• Connect the USB flash drive to the USB port on the back of the toilet.
• Press and hold the middle button on the control panel (the button between the arrows).
• Hold the button down for approximately 20 seconds until you hear a beep and software version 2.03 appears on the display. If no text appears on the display, the update was not successful. In that case, the USB drive is the wrong type, the file name has been changed, or the file is still in compressed (.zip) format. Contact Separett.
F1
Deviation in the incineration chamber temperature.
1. Check that the ash container is locked in place, with the handle turned to the right. The ash pot must pass the thin curved line on the label. When turning the ash pot handle to the right, push the ash pot backward at the same time so that it settles into position and the curved line remains visible.
2. Check that the installation has been carried out according to the installation instructions and that there is no blockage in the ventilation pipe.
3. Check that the incineration chamber hatch opens and closes completely when you press the drop mechanism handle.
Acknowledge the message, let the toilet cool down, and continue using it normally. If the fault occurs again, submit a fault report.

NO FAN
TIMEOUT HEATING
Incineration has continued for more than 6 hours since the most recent program selection.
If incineration has continued for more than 6 hours since the most recent program selection, an error code will appear on the display. If several people have used the unit one after another, the total time may have exceeded the allowed value.
1. Check that all buttons on the display are working. Then return to the home screen.
2. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
3. Set both power switches to the I position (on). Wait for the toilet to cool down.
4. Check the incineration status by looking into the ash pot.
5. Make sure the ash pot is positioned correctly with the handle turned to the right.
6. Restart incineration if necessary.
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
ROOMTEMP
Temperature shown on the circuit board.
HEAT ERROR
The incineration chamber temperature has not reached a sufficiently high temperature within a certain period of time.
1. Set both power switches to the 0 position (off).
2. Make sure the overheat protection pin is fully pressed in.
3. Make sure the ash container is in the correct position and securely in place. The ash container handle must be turned to the right as far as possible.
4. Set both power switches to the I position (on).
Submit a fault report if the steps above do not clear the error.
